Giovanni Guzzo
Venezuelan-born Giovanni Guzzo has established himself as one of the most versatile and charismatic musicians of his generation. Through his work as soloist, conductor and leader of some of today’s leading ensembles, he continues to captivate audiences around the world with his thrilling performances. His appointment as Konzertmeister/Leader of the legendary Camerata Salzburg, cements an exciting partnership, carrying forward the ensemble's rich legacy through acclaimed performances and recordings worldwide.

Giovanni began his conducting studies alongside the violin at the Royal Academy of music in London with Denise Ham, furthering such studies subsequently with Rodolfo Saglimbeni and John Carewe. In 2021, he completed a Masters in Advance conducting in the University of Arts in Berlin (U.D.K.) with Maestro Steven Sloane and Harry Curtis. Through his experience as a violinist leading and directing some of the world’s leading orchestras such as the Camerata Salzburg, Budapest Festival Orchestra, London Symphony Orchestra, Pittsburgh Symphony and Bamberg Symphoniker; Giovanni has worked closely with conductors such as Sir Simon Rattle, Iván Fischer, Sir Colin Davis, Juanjo Mena, Herbert Bloomstedt, Sir John Eliot Gardiner, Gabor Takacs-Nagy, Semyon Bishkov and Marin Alsop.

Giovanni was assistant conductor to Sir Simon Rattle at the Bayerische Rundfunk Orchestra (BRSO) in Munich in 2023, for productions of Mozart’s Idomeneo and Zender’s Schubert Winterreise. His engagements as conductor in recent seasons include concerts with the Camerata Salzburg, English Chamber Orchestra, Manchester Camerata, Brandenburgisches Staatsorchester Frankfurt, Magdeburgisches Philharmonie and Camerata Nordica.
