"José Carreras must have been talking about something like this when he said that the most important thing in this field is to sing from the heart" - Hungary's leading opera magazine wrote about him. Another review has described Ódor as "singing like a dream" and praised his "refined musicianship" and "clarion top notes". "I don't know when I last heard such an excellent lyric tenor, who not only has a beautiful tone, but also sings with perfectly understandable, well-interpreted lyrics, with sure pitches, and with ease" - a recent review wrote about his performance.
Ódor attended the prestigious Franz Liszt Music Academy in Budapest, where he first studied concert guitar, before switching to vocal and opera studies with Éva Marton. He is the winner of numerous competitions, including his native Hungary's Simándy Competition (1st prize) and the Armel Opera Competition (Audience Award, Special Award of the Jury). He has performed with huge success, besides the Hungarian State Opera House and other Hungarian opera houses, in Austria (Theater an der Wien), Spain (San Sebastian - Kursaal, Bilbao - Teatro Arriaga), Beijing, Rome and Novara.
